For example, AC charging is often better for batteries than DC rapid charging. When using DC chargers, charging the battery up to just 80% instead of 100% can help protect its lifespan. You can set charging targets via the MMI. For longer journeys, we recommend a charging target of 100%, as this generates the longest range.<br></li> <li>If the battery is measured by an Audi Centre and found to be less than 70% during the warranty period, then it will be repaired or replaced under warranty so that it measures 70% of the starting value (subject to the warranty T&Cs).</li> </ul>
<ul> <li>Like most lithium-ion batteries we use every day, such as in our smartphones, the capacity of batteries in electric vehicles will reduce over time through use and charging. This is important to keep in mind when comparing new and used electric vehicles on our website, as the capacity of a used battery will be lower than the capacity of a new battery.<br></li> <li>The reduction of battery capacity through use, charging and time is called ‘degradation’. For battery electric cars, degradation is affected by many variables such as charging speed, driving style, charging volume, temperature etc. As a battery ages the capacity will reduce, which means that the battery may need to be charged more frequently and the range achievable in real life may decrease.<br></li> <li>You should not rely on new car performance figures (including battery capacity and range) in relation to used vehicles with older batteries, as they will not reflect used vehicle performance in the real world.<br></li> <li>All fully electric Audi Approved Used cars under 8 years old will receive a multipoint check and a battery health certificate, this will display the current battery health status. <ul> <li>100% of electric Audi vehicle battery components are designed to be repaired when subjected to normal use.<br></li> <li>The state of health (SOH) of your battery can be diagnosed at your local Audi Centre.<br></li> <li>The battery has been designed in a way which makes it unlikely that the entire battery would need to be replaced.<br></li> <li>In the rare situation that a repair to the battery is required, depending on the issue, the car may need to be sent to one of our High Voltage Specialists who would diagnose and assess the battery, and if required replace or repair parts as needed.</li> </ul>
• The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 require batteries to be taken back free of charge on request. Audi Centres and Audi UK aim to make sure that high-voltage batteries are disposed of properly.
